This report sets out the main financial results of the companies that publish the 23 national free-to-air channels shown in France on free DTT for the year 2023.
TV channels concerned
- France Télévisions group channels: France 2, France 3, France 4, France 5, Franceinfo ;
- TF1 group channels: TF1, LCI, TMC, TFX and TF1 Séries Films;
- M6 group channels: M6, W9, 6ter, Gulli ;
- Canal Plus group channels: CNews, C8, CStar ;
- Altice Médias group channels: BFM TV, RMC Découverte and RMC Story ;
- NRJ group channels: NRJ 12, Chérie 25 ;
- the L'Equipe channel.
The parliamentary channel (Public Sénat and LCP-AN) and Arte are not examined, as they fall within the competence of the Authority.
A sluggish 2023, marked by a 4% drop in sales for free-to-air private channels and a 22% decline in operating profits.
After a 2% drop between 2021 and 2022, total sales for the 23 national free-to-air channels shown on DTT in 2023 came to €5,532m, down 1% overall on 2022 (-€83m), a decline attributable to private free-to-air channels alone (-4%), with France Télévisions Group channels recording a slight increase in sales (+1% or +€33m).
