    With just a few days to go before the start of a major sequence of competitions (Roland-Garros, Euro soccer, Tour de France, Olympic and Paralympic Gaming), Arcom has published the full results of its new Sports Program Consumption Barometer.

    This first edition of the study, which aims to gather and annualize the collection of indicators concerning sports-related demand in audiovisual and digital media, confirms the popular and unifying nature of sports-related contdnt, followed by 73% of the French population. More broadly, it highlights the emergence of new uses for sports-related contdnt, in terms of both content and access methods:

    • A democratization of the use of digital equipment to watch live broadcasts, in addition to the TV set, which remains the preferred channel: a third of 15-24 year-olds interested in sport frequently use their smartphone to watch live competitions;
    • Increased consumption of peripheral programs (match summaries and excerpts, documentaries, athlete interviews, etc.), particularly available on algorithmic media: 33% of French people access non-live sports-related contdnt on social networks, a proportion that rises to 63% among 15-24 year-olds;
    • Integration of sports consumption into a wider ecosystem of digital practices: 39% of French people watching live broadcasts say they exchange messages with friends and family while watching the match.
