How is parasport portrayed on French television?

As part of the "Jouons ensemble" campaign, Arcom has published a study on the representation of parasport on television, carried out with the participation of the Institut national de l'audiovisuel (INA). The study is based on an analysis of five general-interest sports magazines shown on three different channels.

Methodology

A broadcast was carried out from April 1 to June 15, 2023. This period, on the one hand, appears sufficiently long for robust conclusions to be drawn and, on the other, included the staging of a major parasport competition within it: the Virtus Global Games, the largest international competition for athletes with intellectual disabilities, Down's syndrome and autism without intellectual disabilities. The broadcast was carried out on general sports magazines shown on free DTT channels (with the exception of L'Equipe).

A total of 1,186 sequences were indexed, representing an hourly volume of 25 hours and 32 minutes.
