    The Arcom report puts the development of the representation of women on television and radio from 2016 to 2023 into perspective, revealing significant progress in terms of presence on set, but a balance of speaking time given to women that is struggling to evolve.

    The mission of theFrench regulatory authority for audiovisual and digital communication (Arcom) is to ensure respect for women's rights in the field of audiovisual communication.

    The regulator ensures :

    • fair representation of women and men in programs;
    • theimage of women, in particular by fighting against gender stereotypes, sexist prejudice and violence against women.

    Arcom works actively with players in the audiovisual industry to improve the representation of women. Its action in this area has two dimensions:

    • control;
    • anincentivisinig action.

    Press conference

    Roch-Olivier Maistre, Chairman of the French regulatory authority for audiovisual and digital communication, and Laurence Pécaut-Rivolier, member of Arcom's College and Chair of the "Protection des publics et diversité de la société française" working group, presented the results of the report at a press conference held on Tuesday, February 5, 2024, at the Authority's headquarters in Paris, in the presence of Laurent Vallet, Chairman and CEO of the Institut National de l'Audiovisuel (INA).
