As every year, Arcom, the French regulatory authority for audiovisual and digital communication (formerly the French Superior Audiovisual Council), publishes its report on the representation of women on television and radio. The 2021 report reveals an improvement in the on-air presence of women.

The fair representation of women and men on the airwaves and the fight against discrimination on the grounds of sex are key missions for the French regulatory authority for audiovisual and digital communication, Arcom. The Authority supports the audiovisual media, as models of representation and levers for social change, to improve the representation of women on their airwaves and enrich their programming to fight agains gender stereotypes and violence against women.

The 2021 report on the representation of women in the media was presented at a press conference at Arcom headquarters in Paris, in the presence of the chairman of the French regulatory authority for audiovisual and digital communication, Roch-Olivier Maistre, Arcom advisor and chair of the "Education, audience protection and social cohesion in audiovisual and digital media" working group, Carole Bienaimé Besse, and the chairman of the Institut national de l'audiovisuel (INA), Laurent Vallet.
