The "signalétique jeunesse" is a scheme for classifying audiovisuel programs to indicate to the public whether a program is unsuitable for persons under 18.
There are five categories of program, according to their acceptability for the protection of children and adolescents:

Diffusion times
No time restrictions, but not allowed in children's programs.
When a program is likely to disturb children under the age of 12. Such programs may include repeated use of physical or psychological violence, or scenes of a sexual nature unsuitable for an audience of this age.

Special regime for cinema channels: no time restrictions except on Wednesdays, when diffusion is only permitted from 8:30pm.
Erotic programs or those featuring scenes of extreme violence.

Only certain channels accessible by contract are authorized to show these programs, with a locking scheme.
Arcom carried out a quantitative post-test to evaluate the campaign's effectiveness. The Authority also conducted a qualitative study to gain a better understanding of the media uses and practices of 8-16 year-olds, and the challenges posed by inappropriate content for parents and children.

One of Arcom's missions is to prevent children and teenagers from seeing or hearing online programs or content that could harm their mental, moral or physical development.
