Digital radio in the spotlight in 2023

After celebrating the centenary of the first radio broadcasts and the 40th anniversary of the liberation of the FM band, DAB+ will be in the spotlight in 2023 for Arcom, to bring all the benefits of digital radio to as many people as possible.

DAB+ (Digital Audio Broadcasting, the"+" corresponds to a development in the global digital terrestrial radio (DTR) diffusion norms), which complements FM diffusion, was launched in France on June 20, 2014.

Every year, new transmitters are put into service to ensure increasingly fine coverage of the territory. This coverage continues to increase steadily, with the aim of crossing the symbolic milestone of 50% coverage of the French population in mainland France by summer 2023 (total coverage at May 31, 2023: 49% of the mainland population).
