1. Study on the use of adult websites by persons under 18

The exposure of minors to pornographic content on the Internet is increasing sharply. The aim of the Arcom study published in May 2023 is to inform child protection players and the Authority about the number of visits to sites offering pornographic content, and in particular the number of visits by minors.

2. The epresentation of French society in the audiovisual media

Arcom reports annually to Parliament on the actions of television and radio service editors in terms of the epresentation of French society and the fight agains discrimination, as well as the actions it has taken.

The Authority draws up a "barometer of the representation of French society", a measurement tool that provides a snapshot at a given moment of the representation of this diversity on screens. The results of the barometer also enable broadcasters, on a regular basis, to have a precise idea of the image they project of society, and thus to better feed their channels with diverse people and programs representative of social diversity, without doing so on an event-driven basis.

3. Digital Barometer

The Digital Barometer is a benchmark study on the diffusion of information and communication technologies in French society. The study, published in January 2023 and piloted by Arcom, the French regulatory authority for electronic communications, post and press distribution (Arcep), the Conseil Général de l'Economie (CGE) and the Agence Nationale de la Cohésion des Territoires (ANCT), and carried out with the Centre de recherche pour l'étude et l'observation des conditions de vie (Credoc), is a sample survey that measures the adoption of digital equipment and uses in the French population.

4. Representation of women on television, radio and in TV commercials

The fair representation of women and men on the airwaves and the fight agains discrimination on the grounds of sex are key missions for the French regulatory authority for audiovisual and digital communication, Arcom. The audiovisual media play a major role in raising public awareness in this area, and are therefore responsible for the image of women portrayed in their programs. In March 2023, Arcom published two studies, one on the representation of women in the audiovisual media and the other on the representation of women in television advertising.

5. Fighting the diffusion of online hate content

With just a few weeks to go before the European Digital Services Regulation (DSR) comes into force, in July 2023 Arcom published a review of the means used by online platform operators to fight the diffusion of hateful content.
